Raw Dog Food Recipe
So you are no longer interested in store bought canine food? Congratulations on your wise decision and welcome to The Kissable Kitchen, where we believe wholeheartedly in healthy homemade raw canine food and in natural pet health care. We hold the same strong value when it comes to humans as well, which is probably why we are a part of Health and Fitness Fairy - where natural living and remedies encompasses humans and pets alike.
The purpose behind a raw food diet is quite simple. Wolves that live in the wild eat raw prey, including the bones and organs. This is how those wolves get their nutrients and studies have shown that those dogs are usually more healthy than house dogs because house dogs are still being fed store bought dog food, which is full of toxins, houses few nutrients, and often times does not contain a full body of healthy nutrients.
Raw Dog Food Recipe
---------The Kissable Kitchen
Ingredients and Instructions
- 4 cups rice (brown or white)
- 9 cups of water (bottled or filtered)
- 1/4 cup oats
- 1 tsp salt
These ingredients you bring to the boil and simmer until the water is absorbed. About 20 minutes. Stir occasionally to keep rice and oats from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
- Raw Meat, including organs (poultry, beef, lamb and organ meats)
- Raw Liver
Raw meats and liver should be ground up.
- Raw Bones (cooked bones are not healthy for your dog but raw bones are).
You can either buy bonemeal powder and add it to the food or you can use the raw bones of the chicken or beef. Keep them separately from the food and give to your dog when he finishes his meals. They love it!
The quantity of the meat ingredients depends on the quantity required for your dog's age and breed, and whether or not you are making his food from scratch daily or weekly. I make one batch that lasts one week.
- 2 cups vegetables (use a variety). Chop finely and steam or boil (just enough water to cover the vegetables just until soft. Reserve some of the water and use to grind up with cooked vegetables. Do not over cook, or you will lose all the nutrients in the vegetables.
- 2 tbls of parsley.
- 3 tbls corn oil, 3 tbls coconut oil, 3 tbls olive oil
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 tsp ascorbic acid powder with bioflavanoids
- 1/4 tsp fresh garlic (not powder)
- 1/2 tsp flax seeds (ground)
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
Now combine all of the ingredients mentioned about and mix well together.
Supplement Brew
Add 1tsp of this supplement per 30lbs of weight to your dogs daily meal(s).
- 1 cup Brewers Yeast
- 1 cup wheat germ
- 1/8 cup powdered Kelp
Simply combine together. Keep tightly stored and use throughout the week.

MJ's Lentil Soup Soother
Of the thousands of meals and snacks that I cook, and as easy and simple as this one is, it is my favorite! I almost feel silly putting this recipe on here because it is so simple, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if someone else has put the exact same ingredients together. Nevertheless, how can I not share my favorite "To Make" dish and the best soothing soup I have ever come across?!
When you or someone you love is not well, this Lentil Soup Soother is soothing, healthy, and relaxing. It is a God send when down with cold or flu, suffering from a hang over or just plain old feeling flat. It can be left as is when finished cooking or can be blended to make a finer soup. It is freezable, fast, easy and smooth on the pallet.
Hope you like it!
MJ's Lentil Soup Soother
Ingredients
- 3 tbls olive oil
- 2 cups chopped brown onion
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 3-4 garlic cloves
- 4 cups vegetable broth (homemade is always best and more healthy)
- 1 1/4 cup rinsed and drained lentils
- 1 14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes with juice
- 2 pinches of turmeric powder (Add immediately after you remove the pot from the burner)
Directions
1. Heat oil in heavy saucepan over medium high heat.
2. Add onions, celery, and garlic and saute until vegetables begin to brown. About 15 minutes.
3. Add broth, lentils, and tomatoes with juice and bring to the boil.
4. Reduce heat to low, cover and allow to simmer until lentils are tender. About 35 minutes.
5. Add salt and pepper to your liking.
6. At this point you can either enjoy the soup as it is or you can blend it to make it a thin liquid soup by adding more broth as you are blending.
Garnish with celery leaves.
